There, Here and Everywhere, in the end return to the initial spot
Here. There. Everywhere.
Three words best describing the journey I am
undertaking, to find my identity, to search for tranquility, to empower my
knowledge about anything I can. Sadly, the far I go, and the busiest I be, none
of them can make my life a bit more rejuvenating. What can I now learn is that, I hate the same routine, I despise being among these chaotic scenes in big capital city Kuala Lumpur and I just don't feel a lot better, even though I tried to strengthen myself to be strong. Everywhere I go, it's the same spot I am standing at. What can I benefit from this? Is this what I am looking for? The answer is
Hell NO!

Endocrine System
The endocrine system consists of network of glands, which we called endocrine glands. Endocrine glands function as hormones producer. And what is hormone by the way? Hormones are chemical messenger that transmit message to regulate physiological events and they are transported by the bloodstream.
Before that, an endocrine system is the body's main system for communicating, controlling and coordinating body's work. It mainly works for the nervous system, the reproductive system and other systems.
The endocrine glands are:
1) The hypothalamus
2) adrenal gland
3) pituitary gland
4) thyroid gland
Functions of the Hypothalamus
- hypothalamus connected to the pituitary gland in which it keeps track of the hormone level, if hormone level is high, it inhibits hormone production, and vice versa.
-Hypothalamus secretes FSHRH (Follicle stimulating hormone releasing hormone) and LHRH (Luteinising hormone releasing hormone)
Hypothalamus triggers the pituitary gland to produce hormones. Pituitary gland is by right consists of the anterior and posterior pituitary gland. Anterior is facing in front meanwhile posterior is facing behind. There are a wide difference between both anterior and posterior.
The anterior side produces hormone prolactin and growth hormone, which is directed to the body. It also produces TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), ACTH (adrenocorticotropic Hormone), Gonadotropic Hormone (FSH, LH), but these ones are not directed toward targeted organ or cells, rather, it stimulates other target gland to produce another hormone like stimulating thyroid gland.
Posterior side of the pituitary gland, acts as storage site. In which, the hormones oxytocin and ADH are produced by the hypothalamus, but they are stored in the posterior side. So, we can conclude that posterior side does not produce hormones.
Now let us look at the functions of the hormones mentioned above:
a) growth hormone-assist in growth
b) prolactin-development of mammary gland
c) TSH-stimulate thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormone
d) oxytocin- important in the contraction of uterus during labour
e) ADH- reabsorption of water from collecting tubules.
Function of Thyroid Glands
Thyroid gland produces thyroid stimulating hormone. So, before we get closer to TSH, we know that we have both the endocrine and exocrine systems. What are the differences?
Endocrine system consists of endocrine glands that produce hormones which then brought through the bloodstream, meaning 'inside' the body whereas exocrine system consists of exocrine glands that secrete hormones 'outside'. The secretion passes through a system of ducts that lead to the exterior of the body.
Fine, how does the thyroid stimulating hormone stimulated?
Thyroid Hormones are actually divided into 2 types, the T3 and T4.
- T3 stands for triiodothyronine, and it is in the active form, which take up 3 molecules of iodine to generate thyroid hormone.
- T4 stands for thyroxine the most common type of thyroid, which is mostly produced.
At a target organ, T4 is converted in T3 which is an active form.
We Never Know The Future: Poor Boy
Shakir is his name. He was just the same age as my little naughty brother and they were good friends as far as I know. I still remember how I got to know him. He was always with his good buddy named Aliff, and as far as I concern both of them were very cheeky and sarcastic. Shakir was active in badminton and other sports endeavors, but he was not that popular among the teachers. He somehow a very talented and hardworking person.
The last time I saw him was of course last year, but we didn't clinch that well. However, when I was in my form 4 years, he and aliff always got on my nerves. The most memorable one when they disturbed my "cheap date" with my so-called ex boyfriend. Then, there was nothing more I can tell about him.'
I was so shocked to see him at school on last saturday, where his condition was no similar to what I've been expecting. My brother told me he is now halfly paralyze from head to toe due to an ailment, in which my brother himself quite unsure. He went to the stage with a shiver hand and couldn't walk properly. I cried when I saw him like that, never thought it would be that bad.
I just hope that Shakir could later heal and regain normal. He had such a bright future, and now I just hope and pray that he won't miss anything. Such a waste if he did. For you readers, maybe you don't know who's Shakir, but please pray for him. Like I mentioned, we never know the future. It can change in a tick of time, without we realising it. Therefore, it has to be an urge for me to ask you guys to always appreciate for what you have now and for what you are now. That's all. Wallahualam.

Doctor Wannabe: On call is what your life is all about
Let's see what's on call termed for:
On Call
Being on call while in residency means that you stay in the hospital over night and care for the patients on your team and the other teams, and care for the new admissions. This means you will be working up to 30-36 hours with little or no sleep. This is done every 2nd, 3rd, or 4th night depending on the institution and specialty you are in. This is a long-standing tradition in medicine. Many people outside the medical field see this as an unnecessary, perhaps dangerous tradition. The argument on the other side goes that the more experience you have treating patients and their diseases the better you will be as a physician. In order to see the same number of patients from 9AM-5PM, the length of training programs would need to be considerably longer. Also, someone needs to care for patients after hours. An old saying in medicine goes - the only thing wrong with being on call every other night is that you only get to see half the patients.
An intern is at the bottom of the food chain at a teaching hospital. Any unpleasant, menial task (called "scut" work) is the intern's job.
Another medical tradition during internship is the phenomenon of "see one, do one, teach one". In other words when a procedure needs to be performed you see someone do it. Next time it needs to be done you do it. The following time, now that you are an expert, you teach someone else to do it. This is how some medical knowledge gets passed on.
At this point you are finally being paid for your services. The mean salary for a first year resident in 1998-99 was $34,104. For each additional year of residency the mean salary increase was $1,451
Earth Hour dan Kepentingannya
So, semalam 27hb Mac ada sambutan Earth Hour. Apa tu Earth Hour?
Aku turun bawah, tgk adik aku masih tengah solat. Aku pun duduk2 sambil baca surat khabar. Lepas dia dah habis solat, aku cakap kat die, "eh dah lambat lah utk earth hour?"
My adik pun macam "a ah laa earth hour!!" tapi dah lambat. pastu die tgh baca quran. Aku pun kate kat die "ehm tak yah la sambut. dah pukul 9 dh. Lebih baik baca quran daripada sambut earth hour. Betul tak.
